Professional Experience:
Moiz Hussain is a highly experienced advocate and programme manager with over 12 years of experience leading large-scale regional and national programmes across South Asia, focusing on education reform, girls’ education advocacy, and civil society engagement. He has worked in multiple countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and India, where he has navigated complex socio-political environments to drive impactful change.
At the Malala Fund, Moiz held key roles such as Regional Advocacy Manager for the Asia region and In-Country Representative for Pakistan. In these roles, he designed and led advocacy campaigns that successfully pushed for critical reforms in girls' education at both national and global levels. He led efforts that mobilised over 50,000 girls and parents across India and brought global attention to the issue of girls' education in Afghanistan, partnering with organisations like the UN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Moiz also managed multi-million-dollar grants and worked closely with government and non-governmental organisations to implement programmes in Pakistan. His work included supporting Malala Yousafzai’s global advocacy at major international events such as the UN General Assembly and the Doha Forum.
Before his time at the Malala Fund, Moiz served as Head of Civil Society Engagement for Alif Ailaan, a UK government-funded education campaign in Pakistan. In this role, he led efforts to engage civil society in advocating for education reform, managing over 125 organisations across the country and coordinating education campaigns tailored to local contexts. His work involved building relationships with key figures in government, media, and civil society, helping drive education reforms at both regional and national levels. He managed a portfolio of projects worth £6 million and supported the establishment of independent organisations dedicated to education reform.
Moiz also led outreach and engagement efforts at Tabadlab Inc., where he managed international projects and relationships with donors such as the British Council, ensuring that programmes met donor objectives while contributing to the organisation’s growth.
With a strong academic background in Social Anthropology, Moiz applies qualitative research methods and culturally sensitive strategies to his work.
Throughout his career, Moiz has focused on improving education, particularly for girls, and strengthening civil society’s role in advocating for reform. His extensive experience in advocacy, programme management, and strategic partnerships makes him a key contributor to efforts that aim to bring about positive change in South Asia and beyond.
