Professional Experience:

My work experience of over 14 years began as an Agricultural extension professional, and later as faculty in Economics. After completion of my doctoral study, I joined CWDS in February 2013 and since then have closely studied gender and aspects related to women and development. The focus of my research has been on economic role of women with a focus on women farmers and their collectives. I have represented CWDS in various discussions on women’s livelihood and land rights. I was also responsible for empanelment of CWDS with MoRD (GoI) as a National Level Monitor (NLM) for monitoring of rural development programmes. I co-ordinate the NLM work and am responsible for submission of evaluation reports and periodic presentations to the ministry. I have also completed UNFPA funded project on Approaching Data Sources: A Gender Lens and am presently the lead investigator in a three state study commissioned by NIRD. The multi-dimensional education and experience has helped me in preparation of proposals, Project Reports, conduct of analytical research, field evaluations for monitoring, participating in various conferences and in publishing my work in various journals and edited books.

Education:

The foundations of my educational qualifications have been firmly built in Agriculture with a Bachelors in Agriculture from KAU and Masters in Agricultural Economics from IARI.
I also have a Post Graduate Diploma and Management.
Later, my interest in the Women Empowerment programme kudumbashree lead to the completion of a study on Women’s Self Help Groups and performance of their enterprises for which I was awarded a Doctoral degree in Economics from the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics.
