Professional Experience:
Experienced development professional with 10 years of progressive experience working in international development and humanitarian response, focusing on displacement, EiE, health and communications.
During that time, I have produced research, reports, evaluations and programme development work for a variety of clients and audiences, including work for UN agencies and INGOs. As a result of this work, I have developed rigorous research and analytical skills; analyzing complex data and converting it into engaging communications, programming and research products.
Through this work I have had the opportunity to develop a sound understanding of global policy developments and targets around the humanitarian and development sectors. I have also had the opportunity to gain valuable field experience, working within education in the MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa and South West Asia regions.
In addition to my professional experience I have a committed personal interest in development and humanitarian response. Driven by this interest, I undertook a part time Masters in Communication for Development between 2012 and 2014, for which I was awarded Distinction. This allowed me to gain an in-depth understanding of effective research and communication around humanitarian and development issues, both in terms of practical approaches and academic thought; a perspective that I routinely use to inform my professional work.
My work has often involved operating in changeable, fast paced environments, where quick thinking and a proactive approach are key to my delivering work on time and to brief. A committed team player, I underpin my work with the principles of openness, cooperation and respect, especially when coordinating others and working as a part of international, multilingual teams. I am also a motivated self-starter who is equally comfortable working alone.
