Professional Experience:
Rural Development, Food Security & Livelihood, WASH, Environment Protection, Resilience to Climate Change and Natural Disasters, Disaster Risks Reduction and Humanitarian Aid Coordination, Gender Equality, Economic and Social Empowerment, Project Management and Monitoring (PCM cycle – planning, supervision, monitoring and evaluation), Logistics and Administration, Management of Donor (AICS, ECHO, OCHA, EU DEVCO, FAO, WFP, UNIDO) and Stakeholders Relations, Project Design, Drafting and Reporting, Annual and Multi-Annual Programming Design and Definition of Development Cooperation Strategies, are some of the key areas of Ivan's daily work agenda in Development Cooperation.
Currently Ivan works as UNIDO International Project Coordinator of the 20 mil. € SINCE Programme financed by the EU Trust Fund in Ethiopia. Beside Donor relations (Embassy of Italy, EU Delegation, and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) and ensuring Donor’s compliance, he supports the Organization in the Programme M&E mechanisms and delivers technical assistance to the Programme Implementing Partners (IRC, COOPI, VIS, Edukans and PIN as Consortia leads). He also supports in strategizing and developing new project proposals in the Country.
As Head of Mission for COOPI in Ethiopia, he led the Country strategies by liaising with main Development Cooperation actors, Government bodies and local institutions. In this context he managed a consistent project portfolio (15) & led fund raising strategies among EU, OCHA, ECHO, AICS, Embassy of France, UNIDO & other UN Organizations and bilateral donors (i.e. CARITAS).
As Programme Manager & Head of Base, he worked for COOPI in Malawi on DFID's DISCOVER Project ( Developing Innovative Solutions with Communities to Overcome Vulnerability through Enhanced Resilience) to strengthen communities resilience to climate change. He also managed Cash for Work (CHRISTIANAID) and a Food security projects (WFP & Save the Children) alongside EU DIPECHO interventions on emergency and resilience.
Within KIP-UNOPS, he worked as Territorial Development and Green Growth Expert and was active in Senegal (Kaolack) for Natural Resources Based Management, improved livelihood and rural development.
Through IDEASS Programme he raises awareness on cross-cutting innovations: food safety & security, environment, rural development & SMEs strengthening.
With UNIDO ITPO Italy, he piloted projects’ operations in Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa (Cameroon, Ghana and Tanzania) and drafted projects for technical assistance on environmentally friendly solutions (i.e. renewable energy), food security and safety.
