Professional Experience:
As a well-seasoned Programme Development, Emergency and M&E Specialist, I established skills in organizational development, development of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and reporting systems, and country strategic development in emergency and humanitarian settings. I possess the knowledge, skills and the ability to not only give technical assistance and field oriented technical support, but to facilitate the development and strengthening of local and regional strategic emergency M&E field structures and processes for scaling-up and mainstreaming of humanitarian interventions in resource poor settings. I demonstrate due consideration to the diversity of the not only the Africa and Middle East regions, but also global programmes and multi-country interventions as funded internationally.
Over the last 10 years, I provided specialist advice and technical programme management support to Donors, UN counterparts, Project Managers and Project Coordinators in the areas of project governance and control mechanisms, policy and programme development, country strategic development, the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), and change management as it relates to the management of project planning, implementation and Results Based Management (RBM) in humanitarian and emergency responses.
Currently, I am the National Emergency Specialist for UNICEF Iraq, and I’m required to provide strategic and technical backstopping to the Regional Office, Chief of Field Operations, programme field staff and UN peers, in the delivery of emergency preparedness, response and programme activation interventions. I further assume the national coordination of 3 key projects, namely; (1) the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), (2) the implementation of winterization activities across all sections of UNICEF Iraq (WASH, Education, Child Protection, Health and Nutrition, and Cash Assistance), and (3) contingency planning and emergency response across the 18 governorates of Iraq.
In my previous position as Regional M&E Specialist for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a position that I held in the East and Southern Africa Regional Office (RO) for 3 years covering 13 COs, and as Monitoring and Evaluation and Emergency Officer in the Iraq Mission (Baghdad based) for 4 years, I directly facilitated and provided technical assistance towards the development of twenty-eight (28) country strategic, humanitarian and M&E frameworks, and regional strategic frameworks for East and Southern Africa (2 revisions) and the Strategic Regional Migration Dialogue for East and Southern Africa (1 revision). I was the first regional M&E officer appointed in IOM in 2009, and spearheaded the development of the existing M&E and project development guidelines for East and Southern Africa in 2010.
