Professional Experience:
• Competent business English and Kiswahili with basic knowledge of French
• Professional experience in the African peace and security sector at the continental and regional levels. Also has working experience in the Pacific Islands states
• Experienced in joint implementation (with the African Union Commission) of initiatives strengthening and operationalizing the African Peace and Security Architecture
• Experienced in field-based grassroots and national conflict mapping and analysis, including Strategic Conflict Assessment at the regional and continental levels
• Experienced in conducting conflict assessments for national/international civil society organisations as well as multi-stakeholder national peace infrastructures. Notable experience include providing country conflicts assessment reports to the African Union Panel of the Wise Secretariat, thereby also contributing to the work of the Situation Room within the Continental Early Warning System
• Part of the technical teams that organised annual retreats of the Panel of the Wise and annual African Union High Level Retreat of Mediators and Special Envoys from 2012-2016
• Experienced in programme/project conception, implementation, logistic support, Monitoring and Evaluation in Eastern, Southern, Central and Western Africa as well as the Pacific region.
• Experienced in providing mediation support to mediators appointed by the African Union and Regional Economic Communities (RECs)
• Author of several policy briefs, book and book chapters, as well as journal articles covering international politics, peace and security issues in Africa
• Experience in managing major donor-funded projects including those of the EU, USAID, AU DFAT, German FFO, SIDA, among others.
