Community organizer and non-profit administrator with college-level teaching experience and curriculum development along with more than 20 years experience in media production, including journalism, interactive (disc and online) and broadcast production.
I began my career as a print journalist, moved into social advocacy broadcast documentary production and later into Internet business development. I've been engaged in the start up of more than 2 dozen businesses, including non-profit, education, and for-profit venues. For more than a decade, I've taught at the university level while consulting in business and non-profit development. I have superior Communication and research skills and a knack for seeing unrecognized opportunities. Much of my research, writing and conference presentations focus on equity and excellence in business and education, the value of diversity, and the role media representations play in delimiting opportunities among under-represented communities. I've also examined how tech-centric training can marginalize already-marginalized groups, and the way organizations, institutions and businesses can alter training to be more accessible to larger populations. While much of my focus has been education-centric for more than a decade, my expertise and knowledge is transferrable across disciplines.
