After many wonderful years working in long-terms positions in Bangladesh, and most recently for a £74 million extreme poverty alleviation programme, I want to explore some short-term opportunities in the region and beyond. Professional Experience:

Jamal Khan is an experienced development project manager, currently working as the Chief Operating Officer for the £74 million DFID, SDC and Government of Bangladesh funded Economic Empowerment of the Poorest Challenge Fund in Bangladesh. Jamal is responsible for overall operational management, for ensuring quality delivery of expected results for 36 projects contracted to local and international NGO partners through a partnership implementation framework, which raises partner standards and builds mutual ownership. He has represented EEP at parliamentary level in Bangladesh and at international level forums, and formed strong collaborative external relationships with donors, government and NGO agencies. He has also gained valuable experience previously in his capacity as Director Programs at JOBS International, a pioneering USAID Private Sector program where after the project ended, he supported the development of a portfolio of projects in Uganda, Cambodia, Pakistan and Bangladesh, managed an annual turnover of over US$ 2 million and supervised a team of 40 local and international staff. In this capacity, he also supported the development of employment and income-generating activities components for a three-year, US$85 million USAID development program in Pakistan. Jamal has previously engaged in Pakistan to support the development of DFID’s Governance Strategy and the Government of Pakistan’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers. In his current capacity he continues to lead research and policy dialogue on extreme poverty and supporting the development of social protection mechanisms for addressing extreme poverty. He is well-versed in compliance and grants management procedures for international donors including DFID, World Bank, DANIDA, UN, ADB, EC and USAID.
