Professional Experience:

I've recently returned to the U.S. where I'm currently doing content development and strategic planning projects for Music for Life, the parent organization of the African Children’s Choir.

In Uganda, I most recently I served as the Mar/Com director for Refuge and Hope International (www.refugeandhope.org) a Kampala-based NGO equipping African refugees with educational, professional and leadership development opportunities to help them achieve financial independence and thrive in their host communities.

Concurrently, I served as the program manager for Work for Life (www.iworkforlife.com) a US-based nonprofit working to fight poverty in Africa by training people to start and run sustainable businesses through its Entrepreneur Training Program.

Prior to these positions, my work mostly involved developing and running workshops designed to build the marketing and communications capacities of NGOs across Africa. Participants included the management teams of six recipients of PEPFAR funding; 10 grant recipients of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund; and 50 Ugandan Members of Parliament.

I’ve also organized and implemented programs and events aimed at increasing public awareness around humanitarian and environmental issues and influencing public opinion, policy makers and other key stakeholders.

For example, I pioneered the Tumaini Initiative & Awards Program (www.facebook.com/TumainiAwards) a national initiative designed to generate awareness of children’s rights in Uganda. From 2011-2014, I served as the program manger for this initiative, which was sponsored by World Vision Uganda, UNICEF, Save the Children, Child Fund, Compassion International and other NGOs.

I also organized and facilitated a national conferences designed to raise awareness of environmental issues plaguing the nation, and to help involved parties develop cohesive strategies to prepare for natural disasters and help communities be more resilient in responding to them.

All of my work has involved a considerable amount of content development, including web site copy, short videos/documentaries, newsletters, fundraising appeals, positioning statement and message development, brochures, flyers, articles, and social media posts.

Prior to my work with NGOs I did public relations for US-based IT corporations ranging from start-ups to major corporations like Hewlett Packard (HP).
